8th April 2008 - Latest news from Chiang Mai University

After a short break, The Language Institute Chiang Mai University is proud to announce the recommencement of their prestigious LICMU 120-hour TEFL Certificate Program. Starting 26th May 2008, candidates will be able to enjoy the highest level of teacher training at its facility at Chiang Mai University.

With The Language Institute CMU now offering two different TEFL programs (TEFL International Program) at its facility, many will be asking what the major differences between the two programs are.
The TEFL International Certificate Program focuses on teaching younger students (primarily aged between 12-16 years old). This course is aimed at people who are interested in hands on practical teaching (as you would in a Thai classroom), or for those who have already been teaching, and would like the TEFL Certificate. With the TEFL International course, candidates will base their teaching approach on two styles - the basic and expanded models. These two main models have the aim of giving confidence to new teachers when they enter the classroom, which will allow them to build a rapport with the students for the first time. Secondly, it will provide various tools and methods to help facilitate student interaction in a classroom.

The TEFLCMU Certificate Program is aimed at teaching university students, with a more theoretical approach to teaching. It is aimed at candidates who would like a TEFL, but would also like a sound theoretical, academic and research approach to teaching. In this course candidates will study different methodologies including: PPP, TBL, CLT and ESA. This course aims to provide a base for being able to teach courses such as: academic writing, TOEIC, and TOEFL Preparation classes, or any other university English level program - such as we teach at The Language Institute.
For people interested in signing up for the TEFL International Course at LICMU, please visit us at our facility located at CMU for further information (www.teflintl.com).  Candidates wishing to enroll for the TEFLCMU program can do so online at www.teflcmu.com  or email us at: enquiries@teflcmu.com.
