lAjarn.com is
in the process of getting a huge makeover. A busy team of
programmers and designers are working frantically backstage to give
the site a fresh new look - and at the risk of sounding a little
biased, the work done so far looks fantastic! Yes, it's time for ajarn.com to enter the world of RSS feeds, links to community
network sites and to generally make the site not only far more
interactive but also much easier to navigate, etc. Although the
new-look ajarn.com won't be launched until
ater this year
(there's still a lot of work to be done) I'm looking for ideas
from our readers on what sections you would like to see on the
website. Some sections in the past haven't gone as well as
planned. I've generally been disappointed with the variety of
contributions for the Filipino section and the idea of the
'find-a-teaching-buddy' section never took off at all. But
that's life I guess. Some you win and some you lose. The
'Julia's Journey' feature sparked a lot of interest and to some
extent 'Dave's Journey' as well. Anyway, let me know your
thoughts.
We've also got grand
plans to introduce an ajarn.com new arrival service. This will
involve assisting new teachers by setting them up with a good
apartment, introducing them to schools that pay a decent salary
(one you can actually survive on) and a full day's orientation
in Bangkok. What it won't be is a teacher placement agency.
Ajarn won't be assisting with work permits and teacher's
licenses but we will be offering a helping hand from the moment
you land (actually that's a good slogan isn't it?)
