Your info is plain wrong

To the writer who was bamboozled by the Ministry of Labour officer pointing at section 4 of H.M's laws. (What labor laws? Ajarn Postbox 28th February) Did the writer not read the section in question? It refers to employers, not teachers. Nowhere does it say that schools are not covered by the laws. As a foreign teacher you are covered by the same laws that any Thai national works under. You are <b>not</b> bound to the contract you signed with your school if it contravenes Thai labor laws. These laws were signed by The King, and you should remind your schools of that if they tell you otherwise. Your contract with H.M.The King supercedes any contract with your school. Please obtain a copy of he Labour Protection Act 1998, you will find it is very generous to all. Power to the worker. Long live The King.
