Details of Position

Role Purpose:
• To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English
• To support the wider aims of the British Council and its cultural relations mission

Accountabilities:
• Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups, taking into account individual learning styles.
• Monitor progress and regularly provide feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout the course, while actively promoting learner autonomy.
• Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team.
• Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards.
• Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning, and maintain the British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practice.
• Support local marketing and promotional strategy, and assist the Teaching Centre team in delivering excellent customer service.
• Contribute to the development of lasting, mutually beneficial relationships by enhancing students’ understanding of contemporary Britain.
• Ensure safeguarding and other guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas:
o Safeguarding
o Equality, diversity and inclusion
o Anti-bribery
o Health and safety
o Information management
o Brand

Additional Information
• Role start date: This position is for a FIXED TERM ROLE to deliver a SHORT COURSE at a PRIMARY SCHOOL in Bangkok. The contract dates are 23 September 2024 to 11 October 2024 inclusive.
• Work schedule: The post holder must be available to work Monday to Friday, 8:00 – 17:00, 23rd September 2024 to 11 October 2024 inclusive. This includes up to one week of induction and training, and then two weeks of teaching 15+ hours per week.
• Right to Work: Candidates are expected to have researched whether they have the right to live and work in the country in which the role is based.

Qualifications

Essentials
• Recognised Certificate in EFL i.e. CELTA/Trinity Certificate TESOL (or equivalent)
• Undergraduate/University degree
Desirable
• A DELTA, DipTESOL, or other TEFL Q qualification
• Relevant Master’s Degree, or postgraduate Certificate in Education or Bachelor of Education
• Young learner ELT qualification (e.g. Certificate in English Language Teaching to Young Learners, Teaching Young Learners Extension Certificate)
• Very Young Learner ELT qualification (e.g. NILE Teaching English is Pre-Primary Education)
• SEN qualification (e.g. British Council or Blackford)

Work Experience:

Essentials
• High proficiency in English i.e. full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR C2) IELTS Band 8/9 in each of 4 sections of the academic module.
• Two-year post-certificate (i.e., CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL) experience gained from teaching a variety of age groups and levels, i.e. young learners and adults (we will, however, consider strong applications from candidates who do not meet the two years post-cert requirement)
• Note a minimum of 1200+ hours of experience should have been gained from teaching two or more of the following age groups:
o Young learners aged 4 to 7
o Young learners aged 8 to 12
o Young learners aged 13 to 17
o Adults aged 17 +

Salary and Benefits
• Salary - Pay is per hour worked, starting at 946.50 THB per taught hour (1 hour class time + 30 mins preparation / admin) for TEFL I qualified Instructors, increasing for TEFL Q qualified Instructors.
