About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Teacher of Social Studies to join our academic team. The successful candidate will teach secondary school students (Grades 7-10), focusing on US History and offering opportunities to teach Advanced Placement (AP) courses. This role provides the chance to inspire students' critical thinking about history and social sciences, helping them understand the historical context of contemporary issues in the US and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic lessons on social studies topics aligned with the US curriculum.
Foster students’ understanding of historical events, social structures, and their relevance to contemporary issues.
Explore a range of social studies topics such as civics, economics, geography, and world history, integrating these areas to enrich students’ understanding of global and national issues.
Teach Advanced Placement (AP) courses, including AP Psychology and AP Macroeconomics, while preparing students for the rigors of college-level academic challenges.
Cultivate critical thinking, analytical skills, and discussion abilities through inquiry-based learning and collaborative student activities.
Regularly assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and tailor support to meet individual learning needs.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student participation, engagement, and academic excellence.
Collaborate with colleagues to align instructional practices, share best practices, and develop resources that enhance student learning.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies, History, Political Science, Economics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent).
Minimum of one year of full-time teaching experience.
Native English speaker.
Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) courses is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of the US curriculum and social studies best practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
