Salary: Based on salary scale, depending qualifications and experience.
About the Role:
SBS is seeking a passionate Art & Design Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and creative lessons to students at Lower secondary, IGCSE, AS & A Level, helping them develop technical skills, artistic expression, and critical thinking. The teacher should be well-versed in a range of traditional and digital art techniques, encouraging students to explore various media and develop their own artistic voice.
Key Responsibilities
● Plan and deliver high-quality Art & Design lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum.
● Teach a variety of artistic disciplines, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, digital media, and photography.
● Support students in developing a portfolio of work that meets examination requirements.
● Provide guidance and constructive feedback to help students refine their skills and ideas.
● Foster a creative, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
● Organize art exhibitions and competitions to showcase student work.
● Stay updated on contemporary art trends and integrate relevant ideas into the curriculum.
● Ensure the effective use of art materials, maintaining a safe and organized classroom.
● Assess student progress through coursework, practical assignments, and final examinations.
● Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external artists to enhance the art program.
● Collaborate with the music, and drama departments to organise the end of year concert showcasing lower secondary students’ skills in art, music, and drama.
● Mentor students applying for art school/university programs.
Qualifications & Experience
● A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Art & Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
Experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level Art & Design or a similar international curriculum.
● Strong knowledge of traditional and digital art techniques.
● Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) and other digital tools is an advantage.
● Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
● Passionate about nurturing young artists and fostering creativity.
Desirable Skills
● Experience organizing art exhibitions and projects.
● Ability to teach fashion design, architecture, or animation is a plus.
● Familiarity with portfolio preparation for university applications.
