NIS is a privately owned Kindergarten-Grade 12 international school in Chiang Mai, Thailand, trusted by parents since 1993. We offer a college-preparatory, internationally accredited curriculum with a strong focus on both academic and personal development. Adhering to US Common-Core Curriculum Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics, we provide a diverse and enriching educational experience for students from Early Learners through Grade 12. All classes are taught in English, and we emphasize fostering a global perspective through our dynamic learning environment.We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated College Counselor to join our school community. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about guiding students through their academic journeys and is committed to helping them achieve their personal and academic goals in preparation for higher education. This full-time position is available starting in August 2025 and will lead the Counseling Department, comprising a Careers Guidance Counselor and an Applications Coordinator, to provide a comprehensive and supportive college counseling experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Counseling Department, providing direction and support to the Careers Guidance Counselor and Applications Coordinator.
- Provide individualized college counseling to students, helping them identify and apply to appropriate colleges and universities.
- Assist students in exploring career options and developing academic plans to support their goals.
- Conduct informational sessions and workshops on college admissions, financial aid, and scholarships.
- Guide students in the development of strong personal statements, resumes, and other application materials.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on college admissions processes and trends, including standardized testing requirements and application timelines.
- Foster strong relationships with college admissions officers and represent the school at college fairs and other related events.
- Support students in managing their academic progress, helping them balance extracurricular activities and academics to enhance their college applications.
- Collaborate with faculty and parents to ensure students receive holistic support throughout their high school years.
- Work closely with the Careers Guidance Counselor and Applications Coordinator to align goals and strategies within the department.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Counseling, Education, or a related field.
- Previous experience in college counseling or guidance counseling at the high school level (US system preferred).
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to guide and support a team.
- In-depth knowledge of international college admissions processes and trends.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and faculty.
- Experience in educational environments.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive salary dependent on experience and qualifications (50,000-75,000 baht pcm).
