Decisions, decisions

Is it time to stick or twist? To leave Thailand or stay?

I came to Thailand for an adventure but I fear the adventure is nearing its end. There is a new journey to start and I'm hopeful its one that can begin - but for now I'm feeling a bit stuck.

Talkin' bout my situation 2012

More worried teachers and their complex situations

More situations from teachers who plan on coming to teach English in Thailand and are looking for hard answers and stone cold facts rather than hearsay and barstool opinion.

Thailand so far behind

Postbox letter from Mr. Russell

I have very recently moved to Vietnam after four years spent teaching in Thailand. The level of English here in Vietnam as their second language is way ahead of Thailand. Thailand hasn't left first base yet.

A land that time has thankfully made me forget

Postbox letter from Ian

For those of you who have not ventured back to the place of your roots, can I just say don't bother, you are far better off where you are. The UK is in a real sorry state.

Bear Hugs

Observations from Chengdu

China hasn’t escaped globalisation. Multinational chains or franchises can be found in every big city and most foreign products are readily available. Restaurants like McDonald’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, Subway and the like have become popular but thankfully make up only a small portion of the thousands of restaurants.

PJ's journey

How difficult is it to adjust to life back in the old country?

How easy or difficult is it to adapt back to a life in your native country after spending seven or eight years teaching in Thailand? Will jobs be easy to come by? Are your old friends still around, and if so, how will they react when the wanderer returns? How does it feel to suddenly find yourself thrown into a world of credit crunches, binge drinking, escalating crime rates and a world far removed from the one you left behind?
