The inconvenience of convenience

The on-line services that supposedly make our lives easier - but do they?

Eventually of course, your goods ordered on-line will arrive at the very final stage of their mammoth journey - the delivery to your home address. And it's all downhill from there.

Christmas in Bangkok

Beautiful but not for the faint-hearted

This has been my third holiday season in Bangkok, yet I'm still absolutely baffled by everything that the city has to offer.

I don't go to see movies these days

In fact there's a whole bunch of stuff I don't seem to do anymore

It's funny isn't it how sometimes your habits change when you live in a foreign country for a period of time? I got to thinking of stuff that I used to do in the past but just don't seem to do anymore for various reasons.

Where's my local shop?

Bangkok truly is a shopper's paradise.

It's little wonder that people are flying in from India, Cambodia, Myanmar (Burma) Laos, Vietnam, Singapore and HK, purely for the shopping. Their cities fall behind Bangkok and simply lack the range of glitzy malls, products, and overall shopping experience found in modern-day Krungthep.

Thai gizmos are great!

Don't stick your nose up at them

For anyone living in Thailand on a budget, it's silly to pay twice the price for an electronic brand you know versus the Thai equivalent that works as well or better.

On Bangkok

Falling in love again with this unique city

Bangkok is left to its own devices. The planning is horrible so the city is left to grow naturally. It is ugly, sprawled, and terrifying to drive in, but it is also so human.

Back from Laos

An impromptu tour of Bangkok's biggest shopping malls

The last week has been quite busy! Ever since I got back from Laos, it's been nonstop business. I arrived back in Bangkok from Savannakhet early Saturday morning. I went home, caught a nap until around noon, and ventured out in the hopes of finally opening a Thai bank account.

Check in at Terminal 21

Bangkok has a sparkling new shopping mall - and it's well worth a visit!

If you're based in Bangkok and you enjoy a bit of window shopping, you could do a lot worse than spend a few hours browsing around the capital's newest and most talked about shopping mall - Terminal 21 - located on the corner of Sukhumwit 19, where If memory serves me correct, a Volvo dealership used to stand.

chatting with the natives

How long you ever go Thailand before?

I think it's a terrific idea to send students out as part of a class project and get them comfortable with talking to foreigners. But why not ask questions worth asking?

May I help you sir?

A sad tale of Thai customer service

About two months ago, I decided to treat myself to a new Xbox360 games system. After checking a few stores, I decided to purchase my system from a shop inside The Mall Bang Khae. The name is PS BOX , you might want to make a note of that name and avoid the shop (read on!).
